Miami and the Tea Party against dialogue in Venezuela

Ramón Guillermo Aveledo has announced that the MUD will “freeze” its participation in the UNASUR and Vatican sponsored talks with the government. According to Aveledo dialogue is no longer possible under continued government repression of student protests.

President Maduro has another explanation for Aveledo’s announcement: he claims that the opposition is being pressurized by its foreign bosses into walking out of the dialogue sessions.

“Now, after they [the opposition] sat down [at the dialogue sessions], they have received a lot of pressure. I know it. The problem is that I know too much. I know of the pressure their families have received form the extremist sectors of Miami, including threats. And there is [also] the power of money. I know of the pressure that is being exercised by the extremist lobby of the Tea Party”, declared Maduro.

The President also announced that he will meet the UNASUR and Vatican representatives that are in the country, but that this time he will accompanied by Interior Minister Rodriguez Torres, who will show the foreign representatives evidence of what he claims was an attempt by student protesters to “take by assault” the Vatican’s Apostolic Nunciature.
